I am excited to begin my first year as a sixth grade teacher at Highcrest Middle School and my ninth year as an educator. In 2007, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (with middle level endorsements) from Illinois State University. In 2011, I earned my Masters in Teaching and Leadership from St. Xavier University. As part of my action research project, I created and implemented a cross-curricular program to prevent bullying in various sixth grade settings. Since earning my masters, I have continued my postgraduate studies focusing in the area of educational technology and middle level mathematics.
From 2007-2012, I served as a fourth and sixth grade teacher in Lake Villa, Illinois. My instructional responsibilities included teaching reading, language arts/writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. For the past three years, I have served as an eighth grade teacher in the content areas of social studies and science in Lake Villa, Illinois. During my time in Lake Villa, I also enjoyed coaching middle school track and field and competitive dance at Lakes Community High School.
I currently live in Glenview with my husband and newest member of the family, a six-month-old Australian Labradoodle puppy. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, relaxing outdoors, and traveling. I look forward to my first year as a Highcrest Hawk and beginning a new school year in such a wonderful community.
